It is always a bit of a coin flip with handmade paper, will it actually be usable, or will it just look pretty? This is pretty nice paper, I got it with hopes to paint on since recycled cotton paper is one of my favorite surfaces, but there is a wide variety of types, I was very excited when I opened the package and saw this wasn’t the loose and very fuzzy stuff that basically soaks up the water and pigment (and gets all manner of fibers stuck in pen nibs) and definitely appeared to be sized and appropriate for wet mediums. So I gave it a go, painting a landscape, and was very pleased with this paper’s performance. It is not quite like other papers I have tried, it is thick and very absorbent when it is wet, giving some absolutely lovely dreamy washes, and once it dries you can get some nice crisp edges without any feathering. The colors stay nice and crisp and there is no warping or tearing when I removed my tape, impressive for a deckled edge.
